5 Tips For Staying Consistent Throughout The Festive Season.

A change in season, environment or social plans always coincides with changes to our health and wellbeing needs. Often regular routines are difficult to maintain, it’s important to check in with what your body needs and change things up to make sure you feel good throughout every season.

Planning ahead for a busier period can be super beneficial. Can you ask yourself what feels realistic for you right now? What do you really need to feel good in your body and mind? Finding harmony between our work, social and life plans often takes time to readjust to over busier periods. How can you lean into that and switch things up to make room for your health and wellbeing schedule too?

Here are 5 tips to help you to find consistency throughout this festive season.

Commit to daily movement (keep it short and sweet)

Regular exercise has so many benefits, supporting mood, energy, digestion, metabolism, brain health, reducing anxiety and depression. It’s beneficial in supporting weight management, improving the quality of your sleep and reducing the risk of chronic disease.

Make a commitment to movement during this festive period that feels realistic for you. Classes under 20 mins, are more than enough to give you exactly what you need for a positive physical and mental shift.

The more you do something, the more likely it is to become a habit, plus the sense of achievement you will feel will be worth every minute.

Prioritise Mornings

Try to stay consistent with your wake time each day, this really helps to keep our body in the know, by following the natural circadian rhythm.

We also encourage movement in the morning, this is when we naturally have more energy, and the benefits go way beyond that. Having that energy boost and sense of accomplishment to start your day really filters down and has a positive impact on how the rest of your day continues.

Prioritise Sleep

No matter how busy your schedule is, it is so important to prioritise sleep. The same as waking up at the same time, try to prioritise the same sleep time each night. Having limited or poor quality sleep has such a poor effect on how we function day to day, it can increase anxiety, depression, hormone imbalances, weight gain and other health issues.

Research says that our most restorative hours of sleep are between the hours of 9pm and 2am, so there really are benefits to an early night!

Come Back To Your Why

When motivation dips, it is so important to come back to your why. What is your reason for taking care of your health and fitness, whether it be to feel good each day, to have energy and be a role model to your kids or to reach a weight or strength goal. Remember to come back to how you want to feel and give yourself a little pep talk.

Remember, it’s up to you to choose you.

Stay Accountable With Support

It is human nature for us to thrive amongst communities. We are 65% more likely to achieve our goals if we join a group or community of people who are on the same mission as us.

Whether it be with a friend that you go walking with, simply letting your partner know what your intentions are so that the can help to keep you accountable, or by joining a studio, you don’t have to do this alone.

The 12 days of christmas challenge starts on 11th December. A challenge that will boost your energy, break a sweat and leave you feeling positive and strong for the festive season.
